La Ventana, Mexico - Winter 2021/2022 Season

Our lesson program follows the guidelines set by the International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO). Our school is in its 17th year of operation with the majority of our instructors with us for over 10 years.

Beginner first day of lessons

Day 1 - Duration 3.5 hours Ground safety lesson and tandem body drag $350 USD plus 16 % Mexican IVA.

2 beginner students (shared class )  $300 USD plus 16% Mexican IVA  per person.

The first day of lessons for beginners, students start with the ground safety course, which goes through the theory and all safeties. Students learn how to rig the kite, launch, fly a kite, develop kite control, landing, upwind body drag positioning and the most important - self rescue. The ground course can be 2 to 2.5 hours with the latter part of the day spent in the water putting everything taught on the beach into practice on the water.

All subsequent lessons are spent in the water, continuing to work on kite control, upwind body dragging, introducing the board and extending rides in both directions.

We tailor all lessons to each one of our students' levels and we will help you pick the right type of lesson that suits you best on your second day after your ground safety class and tandem body drag is finished.

On the second day, for some of you, it will be best and more fun to keep going with some tandem body drags to get a little more practice going over all the information learned on day 1. Kite control, upwind body dragging, introducing the board after you launch leaving the beach, how to put the board on etc.

On the 3rd day of lessons, all students are ready for the jet ski assisted downwinder.

Our beginner lessons start with tandem body drag lessons or are watercraft assisted for students ready to introduce the board while flying the kite. During the lessons we provide all the kite equipment, but suggest you bring your own wetsuit. Each instructor works with one to two students each day but all lessons are private one on one lessons. If you are no longer a beginner, your lesson will start in the water.

We also offer advanced lessons like jumping, transitions, pro tricks, foiling or strapless riding.

Read this and let us know if you have any questions or are ready to book lessons.

Tandem body drag lessons

Our water ready lessons start from a beach upwind of the school and you and your instructor will do one or a couple tandem body drags to cover the basics prior to doing your watercraft assisted lesson or ride along lesson, whichever lesson style is best suited for your level. During the lessons we provide all the kite equipment, but suggest you bring your own wetsuit. Each instructor works with one to two students each day and all transport from the school is included with your lessons. This is great for students that want to get a perfect explanation and demonstration of all the little steps from flying the kite to putting the board on and practicing several times prior to being on their own in the water while the instructor is teaching from a jet ski.

$100 USD/ hour of private instruction plus 16% Mexican IVA

Refresh Lesson

For those with some time since their last lesson, a refresh will be needed on the beach prior to getting wet. This is not included with your jet ski assisted lesson. If you would prefer to start from the beginning with the ground safety lesson, please let us know so that we can schedule accordingly.

$100 USD / hour of private instruction  per person plus 16% Mexican IVA

Jet Ski Assisted Lesson ( 1.5 hours of instruction )

This lesson is private with one student to one instructor. The student and the instructor get on the jet ski from the school and drive upwind to our launch spot. About 1.5 miles upwind of the school. The jet ski is anchored and the student and the instructor both go to shore to rig and launch the kite. The instructor will tailor the lesson to the student. All equipment & transport is included with your jet ski assisted lesson as well as BB talking radio helmets that communicate both ways between student and instructor.

$245 USD for 1.5 hours of instruction plus 16% Mexican IVA

Downwinder Ride Along Lesson ( 2 hours of instruction )

If students are ready for rental after this ride along lesson and would like to get another session afterwards on that same day,  we will happily include a 45% discount on rental.

This lesson is great for someone who is working on the last step towards independence, upwind riding or for advanced lessons like jumping, transitions, pro tricks or strapless riding and also to learn how to launch and land safely. The instructor and the student are both out on the water with their own kites, riding. They are able to communicate with two-way radio helmets, like a hands-free conversation. The instructor is able to both instruct and demonstrate, while being able to aid with water starts or board retrieval for example. At the end of the lessons, the student and instructor ride downwind and the downwinder ends at Baja Joe’s on South beach where our school is located. If you are new to us, we recommend scheduling a  jet ski assisted lesson first to make sure that this is the next best step for you. All equipment & transport is included with your Ride Along lessons.

$225 USD per assisted downwinder plus 16% Mexican IVA
