Nitinaht Lake
Nitinat Lake is a very special place situated on the west coast of Vancouver Island, British Columbia.

Nitinaht is one of the best kiteboarding locations in Canada because of its steady and consistent winds. The old growth forest and lake shore camping make it a fun environment for families and friends to gather. The wind season in Nitinat is from May to September and normally offers winds from 15 to 25 knots.

The Campground

The Nitinaht Campground is beautiful and surrounded with giant trees. It has running water and outhouses. It is situated at the beach where we kite so once you are there you do not need to move. Just enjoy the views and amazing winds.

You need to reserve your stay and ensure you have a spot booked before booking lessons with us.
Book your stay here.

What to Bring

For your lessons, bring your wetsuit, booties and warm layers. We suggest a 4 to 5 mil wetsuit. You can also bring your own kiteboarding gear but we do supply all the latest gear if you would like to try it out. If you do not own your own wetsuit, check out our store. Let us help you get geared up.

Being a little remote, it is good idea to bring all the supplies with you to the lake that you will need during your stay. We suggest to stop and get any food or before arriving to the lake. The gas station / motel in the village has limited supplies. They also serve breakfast, lunch and dinner.

How to Get Here

From Victoria or Nanaimo it is a 2.5 hour drive to the lake. From north Vancouver Island you can go through Port Alberni and then south to Nitinat.

From Vancouver, take the Horseshoe Bay ferry to Nanaimo or Tsawwassen ferry to either Nanaimo or Victoria. If you are flying in, fly into Vancouver, Nanaimo or Victoria and rent a car.
